I have no clue who A$AP Rocky is, but I dig this.

Weezer - “Blast Off”

They BETTER play this on the cruise!

Schatzi - “Death of the Alphabet”

Underrated band! So unknown that they don’t even have a Wikipedia page and you can barely find their songs on the Internet. If you’re a fan of Weezer, the Get Up Kids, Motion City Soundtrack, or any similar act I highly recommend listening to Schatzi!

The band’s discography consists of an EP, a full length, and a split w/ Motion City Soundtrack. The Death of the Alphabet EP and the split are available on iTunes. The full-length, Fifty Reasons to Explode was produced by Ed Rose who worked on a handful of great records (Get Up Kids, Limbeck, Spitalfield, Coalesce) and a Puddle of Mudd album, heh. You can pick up a physical copy dirt cheap on Amazon.

Schatzi uploaded an unreleased record Snow is for Saving Hearts to the web, but you can’t download or purchase it. You can stream the entire album on Soundcloud though.

Soundcloud also has a cover of “Blister in the Sun” by the Violent Femmes. A partial track titled “Green Velvet Neckbrace” is on Grooveshark.

Despite having a mediocre online presence the band is pretty active on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/schatzirocks

Enjoy!

This is such a great/awkward video to watch. I love how nervous Bethany from Best Coast is — she’s a huge Weezer fan by the way. To sing a song with an idol in front of a few thousand people must be pretty nerve racking! I’d probably pass out, hah. Rivers’ move to hold her hand made me feel really uncomfortable though.

Rivers just posted this unreleased Weezer song on their official website. It was written in 1993 and recorded during Pinkerton sessions. The song is going to be officially released on Pinkerton: Deluxe Edition on 11/2 with a handful of other previously unheard tracks.

Do yourself a favor and listen to this incredible song — especially if you’re a fan of old Weezer.
