My Life In An Album Title
Robin Hilton the producer for NPR’s All Songs Considered posted a neat little article on their blog today. Your Life In An Album Title “This is a simple exercise, but might take some thinking. What album name best sums up your life?” I’ve been scrolling through album titles for a while and I’m passing up Caution, Daydream Nation, Stay Positive, Set Your Goals, and...

Big Fan
Has anyone even heard about this film? Apparently it had a very limited release in theaters, but it hits DVD on January 12th. I’m baffled that it didn’t have bigger release with the recent popular of Patton Oswalt, Robert Siegal, and The Wrestler. Patton Oswalt might be one of the best stand-up comedians in a long time, but he’s also a pretty good actor. His role as Paul Aufiero,...

Up in the Air
A few nights ago I watched the movie the Up in the Air. I knew very little about this film going into it despite this film generating a lot of buzz and movie of the year nods. I was familiar with Jason Reitmann from Juno and Thank You For Smoking, two movies I love, but that was about it. I wasn’t blown away by Up in the Air, but I did enjoy it and I suggest watching it if you like Clooney...

Gowalla / Foursquare
I am addicted to both Gowalla and Foursquare! My only complain with the two social networking games is that not enough of my friends are using them. If you’re unfamiliar with the two, here’s the jist of it… They’re location based social networking services that mix in a little bit of a gaming. It’s quite easy to use them, all you do is load up the app and check in...

Vampire Weekend - Contra
There’s no slump with the sophomore release from Vampire Weekend. They’ve returned with another fantastic record filled with upbeat songs that continue to blend African and American pop themes. This time around you’ll hear more ska influences (“Holiday”), sampling of M.I.A. (“Diplomat’s Son”), Clash influences (the album title, lyrics, etc…) and...

Youth in Revolt
Last night I saw a screener for Youth in Revolt. The film is based on the book of the same title by C.D. Payne. Rushmore Part Duex or Juno II: The Wrath of Cera, take your pick and you’ve got the feeling of Michael Michael Cera’s new movie. The story is a basic love story of a boy trying to court a girl who doesn’t have an interest in him. Nick (Cera) develops a new persona, the...

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
Tonight I finally got around to watching Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I wanted to see this movie in 3D while it was in theaters, but I never got around to it. It was a predictable movie, but it was still rather entertaining. Hilarious and delicious! The voice actors (Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell) were great as was the animation. I’m not sure if I read the book...
